About Delhi

There are 2000 people living in Rajeev Nagar, Block - C - a settlement located in the northern part of India's capital city, Delhi.

A mixture of kuchcha and pucca houses dot the landscape. The dwellings give away a story of hardship stemming from poverty and the lack of access to basic amenities.

Before beginning to work in this community in 2014, a preliminary analysis of situations in Rajeev Nagar, Block - C, revealed that education - lack fo awareness about its importance and a high rate of droputs - characterises this area. Today, 200 children in our programme have fully understood the value of education and is trying to carry the message forward to their family and neighbourhood.

A few of the areas of behaviour change addressed by Magic Bus volunteers and mentors include:

  • Importance of personal and environmental hygiene
  • Equal treatment of boys and girls
  • Importance of education
  • Respect for elders
